For years, Lawrence Academy has dreamed of providing safe, on-campus teacher housing for its dedicated staff. Today, because of generous supporters like you, that dream is becoming a reality.
In this remote region of Tanzania, many teachers face long and difficult commutes each day. These challenging journeys not only consume valuable time and energy, but they also create obstacles to consistent teaching and student support. By building housing directly on campus, creating a stronger foundation for both teachers and students to thrive.
Most importantly, on-campus housing allows teachers to fully invest in the lives of their students. Instead of spending hours traveling, they can devote more time to mentoring, tutoring, and encouraging. They can focus on building meaningful relationships with the children they serve every day.
Why Teacher Housing Matters

Safety & Stability
Providing secure housing gives teachers peace of mind and creates a stable environment where they can focus on educating and caring for students.
More Student Support
When teachers live on campus, students gain greater access to mentorship, tutoring, and academic guidance. As a result, students receive the support they need to grow both academically and personally.
Investing in Educators
Quality housing shows teachers that their dedication matters. In turn, Lawrence Academy can attract and retain passionate educators who are committed to serving this underserved region for years to come.
Strengthening the School Community
When teachers become part of daily campus life, the entire school community grows stronger. Students feel supported, families feel encouraged, and the school develops into a connected environment where children can flourish.
This project is about far more than constructing buildings. Together, we are investing in the future of education, strengthening a community, and creating lasting opportunities for the next generation of students in Tanzania.
